Never Stop Working Never Stop working hard for what you want. The moment you see the gift ahead, know that all of your efforts will pay off. Everyone's road is difficult and will have bumps. Do not pause just because of a bump in the road. Keep working hard!

A New OCD

Young Adults' New Biggest Problem: Obsessive Comparison Disorder Relevant Magazine  defines it as: "Compulsion to constantly compare ourselves to others. Producing unwanted thoughts and feelings that drive us to compulsion, anxiety and all round discontent."   Their solution with Bible verses that might help:   1. Cut back on social media and TV (Proverbs  4:25 )   2. Celebrate what you do (Romans 12:6-7)   3. Hone in and Own your signature sauce (Psalm 139:13-15)   Now you may not think that you don't compare yourself to others. I challenge you to contemplate further. Perhaps you don't want the materialistic things that your friends have, but perhaps the lifestyle of your friends. When I got engaged, a had a friend that didn't seem so excited. She told me  2 years later  after marriage, that she felt that the engagement was an instant wall between us. She wanted a boyfriend and already felt that I was "ahead" of her when I had a bo...

Personal Pride

Hubby and I have been working so hard for the past 12 months to better our lives and household. We have opened our eyes and ears to the financial opinions of many writers and analyst. We have accepted career guidance of upper managers in our industries. That wisdom has changed our lives. We are so very proud of ourselves that we are actually patting ourselves on the back. Yes! We have looked back and noticed that we have grown from where we were just one year ago. We often don't accomplish what we wanted, but this past year we have. There are a few items left on the list that we have yet to succeed in, but we are still proud. We never thought that we would been promoted, found a great apartment, began saving for an adoption and even paid off debt. I hope that you take the time to be proud of yourself. We had to learn how to do this. We were like many people and always kept our eyes on the prize that was ahead and never took a moment to be happy with what we accomplished already...

Retail Madness

I got a part-time job at a national clothing retail for the holidays. I know...I know... I'm crazy! But I had no other choice. I needed to take advantage of the money that I will be able to make. But clothing stores are nuts this time of the year. The store gets a shipment nearly everyday and the clothes are flying off the shelves just as fast as we are placing them on there. Outrageous sales are beginning and antsy shoppers are coming out. When my friend asked how it was going, my first response was "It's nuts!". But now I just say "I hate this!" The biggest benefit for working retail this holiday season is the $1000 I should be able to save and the $600 I'll use to pay off a credit card. Oh, let me not forget the 15% discount I can stack on top the sales and clearance prices for everyone's gifts. To make matters better, my sweet hubby noticed how stressed I've been with the retail job so he applied for one too. He said if I'm going to...

A Month to Remember

Image
Hello Followers and Passerby Readers, Writing a post on From Maruki has been a great outlet to express my joys, concerns and mess I make for the past year. Sadly, I have not been able to write a post in the past month. Work consumed every piece of me and more. I barely slept 5 hours a night and worked over 10 hrs a day. Mind you, my job was a contract position with low pay, no growth opportunities and no bonuses. To my surprise, April 12, 2013 was a day of confirmation. I have been in this contract position for the past 4 years. I have renewed the contract yearly with hopes that new changes will come to the program, or that some advancement opportunities will open. I learned on that day that the answers to my prayers were 'no'! No matter how much patience I forced myself to have, which is a task all on its own, I can not change a company. No! advancement opportunities are slim, hard to come by, and was told by my manager "The company does not prefer to hire within becaus...
