Cloth Diapering

Image
We love Cloth Diapering! After 8 months, Hubby and I are still elbow deep in cloth diapers, by choice! Despite the opinions of our friends, it isn't gross, it isn't a waste of my 'precious' time and its not just for Hippies.  I have really enjoyed my son's colorful soft scoot across our floor lately. Cloth Diapering has made a serious come back and they are so adorable! If you are a parent, you probably have heard of cloth diapers. If you need a break down of what are modern cloth diapers, please check out  here . But what I wanted to share is my stash and storage. In the beginning when I was trying to chose between disposables and cloth, I had a really hard time estimating what I needed and when I needed it. Since there are so many varieties, it was really difficult to figure out what to buy. I took the most common suggestion and brought a few of each type. Once we were a month into cloth diapering, I purchased 5 more diapers. This is what I purchased:...

My Plant Based Month - I Failed!!

Image
Right before the clock struck midnight, I made a decision on December 31st to eat plant based in January. I had a fridge and freeze full of meat and dairy products from hosting 10 people over the holiday season. I always have dairy free options because Hubby has been dairy free since about 2011. I had not planned out that week's groceries nor had I thought it through. I just took off running into veggieland. I never knew what this transformation was going to mean to me. Breakfast First thing I took into consideration was my mornings and afternoons. It is so easy for me to fry an egg and chicken sausage and call that breakfast. I do smoothies each day, but once morning passes, I usually don't make one. So I set out to transform the most important meals of the day. First I switched my coffee creamer. It took more than half the month to find one that I like. Silk coffee creamer in Sweet Cream flavor did the trick. I love that it isn't too sweet and that there...

Score Some Free Stuff

When a woman tells her insurance company that she is expecting a baby, she is loaded up with tons of samples and free goodies of baby products. Every registry provides goodies from businesses clamoring for you to buy more and more. These free items let you sample before committing to a whole bottle or full serving size. If you are adopting, you may not get those items from the insurance company, but that doesn't mean that you have to totally miss out on the goods. Adoptive families, make sure to get your free share of goodies too. We have butts to change, and mouths to clean and feed, too. I have listed many companies that I have received items from over the past year or two. I even listed some that I have yet to receive items from. To make this list easier, I have grouped them into 3 categories: Pay for Shipping, Totally Free, Subscriptions. This should give you a clear understanding of what you are getting yourself into. Pay for Shipping  1. BabsyBooks.com These items a...

Coffee! My Friend

Image
In high school I couldn't stand the taste of coffee. My crazy college roommate was addicted and even ate chocolate covered coffee beans. I ate a few, but it just wasn't my thing. I would drink the seasonal flavored drinks at the 'Bucks and Dunkin, but only when I had money. Fast forward six years, and we received a coffee maker as a wedding gift. It was hardly pulled out during the next year. But once I found the York Peppermint Patty creamer, I had to buy the larger size. Sadly, I have yet to put the coffee maker away. I am possibly addicted to coffee! I can't go a week without coffee! If we run out, I will run to the grocer to buy more. I have gone as far as to have a favorite roast- Medium if you were interested. Mr. Mind noticed that its not the coffee, its the creamer that has a hold on me. I believe I am mostly in love with the flavored creamers. Dear Coffee Mate, Thank you for creating so many flavorful creamers this year. You have increased my desire to d...

Ronzoni on the Band Wagon

Image
It was such a delight to Ronzoni Gluten Free Pasta on the grocery shelves! Their tasty blend of Brown Rice Flour, White Rice Flour, Quinoa and Corn makes this healthy alternative to wheat noodles. I often find that some gluten free noodles are either only corn and white rice flour or only brown rice flour. Ronzoni Gluten Free Noodles have held up well. I purchased the spaghetti noodles and penne. I have already made a hearty children noodle soup with the penne noodles. The noodles didn't fall apart under the heat of the soup. However, I did pre-boil them, shocked them in ice cold water and added them right before serving. They currently make Rotini Noodles, Penne Noodles and Spaghetti Noodles. They have some competition, but the popular name and taste of Ronzoni will keep them on top. Check out their site for coupons and recipes: http://www.ronzoniglutenfree.com/ I can not believe how many recipes they have and I'm already planning to add these to my winter list. Give ...

Barilla Gluten Free Noodles

Image
Gluten Free Pasta is now available from a popular brand, Barilla. As soon as I saw this on my Target's shelf, I grabbed a few different shapes and put them to the test. Barilla now sells Elbow Noodles, Spaghetti Noodles, Penne Noodles and Rotini Noodles. Do you over boil your gluten free noodles and return to the kitchen with a mushy mess? I found that I didn't over cook these noodles to a mushy mess. The spaghetti noodles also held up when baked in my baked tomato-less spaghetti bake. The penne noodles didn't harden when I created chicken salad and refrigerated it. The taste was similar to regular wheat noodles. No one would be able to tell the difference unless they make handmade noodles. The yellowish color remained through the cooking process and I actually liked seeing that on my plate versus the pale yellow that results with many noodles. I will continue to buy these until I learn how to make my own pasta. Great work Barilla! Now let's talk about a flat lasa...

Womanly Change

Image
Hello Ladies! Let's talk about Aunt Flow, Mother Nature, the Dot, Period or another name there is. No woman likes their cycle, but every month it comes around for a few days. I was sent an Always Infinity pad to try out. I would have to say that this pad was shockingly nice. It was smooth, thin and paper thin. This pad seemed useless when I first opened it because it had many holes and slits in the surface, but it held up well. Do you move alot when you wear a pad? Don't you just hate when it bunches and clumps together during the day? This pad has solved that problem. After nearly 4 hours, it was still flat in the middle.  Don't take my word for it. Grab a box today!

Minty, Sweet and Cool

Image
Ice Breakers DUO Fruit + Cool Raspberry mints Yummy! If you like hard candy that you can suck on through out the day then you will like DUO. The mild mint flavor along with the mild sweet raspberry is exactly what I need when I get the munchies around 3pm. The raspberry side has small grooves that prevents choking or slipping down your throat. It also comes in Strawberry, my next flavor of choice! Minty goodness! Give it a try!

Kraft Fresh Take

Image
On a request to make meals fun and different, I gave Kraft Fresh Take Southwest Three Cheese a try.  When you first open the paper package you will see the seasoned breadcrumbs on one side and the cheese on the other inside a plastic bag. Unfold the plastic bag to see the ingredients in temporary pockets. Once you open the bag, the pockets with open and the ingredients will fall towards the middle. You can even see the pepper flakes! Make sure you give the breadcrumbs and cheese a shake! We used chicken breast in two different ways. We baked a few whole and then cut a few breasts into small pieces as chicken nuggets.  You do not have to use oil or an egg mixture. Once you shake the chicken in the bag, place in the baking dish. Sprinkle more of the mixture on top of the chicken breast for a thicker coating. Baked for roughly 30-45mins and it was ready. I let it rest on the counter before slicing. I was surprised that the chicken was juicy! Great job Kraft! Gi...

BelVita Review

Image
Since I love breakfast and breakfast snacks (what I munch on until lunch time), BelVita cracker/cookie caught my attention. I tried the apple cinnamon flavor and was quite surprised that it wasn't as sweet as I thought they would be. BelVita is intended for breakfast, yet the 4 cracker/cookies per pack might not be enough food. However, they are filling without being dry! They go well with fruit and even crumbled on top of yogurt. Yummy! I was surprised that my husband, Mr. Mind, didn't mind grabbing a couple packs for lunch. I will grab another box in a different flavor soon. I might have found a new wheat and fiber snack! Try they out everyone!

Poppin'

Image
Popcorn! Dont you just love it? It's mindless foods that goes well with movies, hanging with friends and bonding with loved ones! Add some cheese to it and you have won me over! Welcome to Orville Redenbacher's White Cheddar Popcorn.  I has the pleasure of tasting this wonder treat. If you like warm, slightly salty, and cheesy popcorn, you need to grab this. The cheesy comes in a small package that allows for you to add as much as you would like to eat.   To make it even more sinful, melt a tablespoon of butter and add the cheddar seasoning to it. Pour it over your popcorn, give it a shake and enjoy! Enjoy this at home, in a park or wherever and with whomever you please. It is a great treat!
