A Little About Us Part 1
Welcome!
I've met so many people over the past 2 months. It was such a pleasure swapping pictures, comments and even suggestions. I want to thank you all for dropping my blog. I wanted to take the next few Fridays and share a little about me, my husband that I call Mr. Mind and Baby E.
If you want to know more about me, please feel free to drop me a message or check me out on Twitter and Instagram.
#1 Do you make your bed when you get up in the morning or leave it since you will just mess it up again that night?
I make our bed when I wake up in the morning. It seems like a silly concept to make especially if you leave the house all day. But it is so refreshing to return home and there, in the center of the bedroom, is a made bed.
One skill set that I was taught very young was making the bed. It allows for the house to seem semi put together. Children as young as two can pull the sheets back in the bed and smooth them out. They can decorate the bed with pillows and their lovelies too.
The bed is the first place to bring comfort no matter the weather. One chilly morning, Hubby and I woke up to a ton of soft white snow. Schools were cancelled and hot chocolate was calling our names. Under our fluffy sheets we sat and drank hot cocoa and breakfast cakes. An hour later, we made the bed and headed to the couch. It was a pleasant day.
I grew up getting tucked into bed. It was such a great feeling. The sheets were crispy and cool. I slid into the sheets and was read a story. We Hubby got older, the bed was a comfy place to read, write poetry and just daydream.
How did this idea maintained into adulthood?
I did fall off the bad wagon here and there. But when I was embarking on parenthood, I knew I needed to establish a good routine. I needed a morning routine that would allow for me to feel normal especially when a newborn makes you feel like a walking zombie.
I watched a vlog from a homeschooling mom of 6 children. Her suggestion was to make the bed each and every morning. To also teach your children to make their bed each and every morning. She insisted that it was the most important thing that we do in the morning to start the day off right. So on my busiest mornings as a new mother, I still find time to pull back my sheets, smooth out the comforter and lay all my favorite pillows on top.
It is a quick job. I'm looking for completion, not perfection.
I also make Baby E's bed, sort of. I lay his swaddle in the bed like a comforter and place his night hat and pacifier at the headboard. I am hoping to show him that a made bed has a meaning. A made bed is the beginning of the day and a welcoming view at the end of the day.
