2018 New Year Resolutions
Happy New Year! Welcome to 2018!!
This is a brand new year to make new decisions, live in a new fashion and try new things. Each year poses an opportunity for things to shift in a new way. Every year, Americans make resolutions to be a better person. I am no different.
This year is similar to the past couple of years. I have focused on a goal for each part of my life. Below you will see what I have resolved in the areas of the Finances, Self Improvement, Intellect, Career, and Family. These five areas give a well-rounded view of one's self. I believe that everyone can find something to complete in each area.
You will find that each section has an actual date to help keep me on track. Give this method a try. At the end of the year, I do come back and analyze my year. Check out my results from 2017. I didn't do half bad, if I were to say so myself.
The Financial
- Pay off 3 of my small Student Loans
Student loans are currently Hubby's and I only debt. This plagues us as we try our best to pay it down. This is a very ambitious, perhaps wishful but we will be on a mission to dismiss more debt! My goal is to pay off one loan by April 30, the second small loan by August 31 and the third by December 31.
The Self Improvement
- Drop 30 lbs!
This is so common, but it's on my list again this year. I want to lose roughly 2 pounds a month. I will continue to make efforts to increase my fruit and veggie intake each day with smoothies and juices. I will also give Whole 30 a chance. My goal is to try it in January. It is the month that all of America gives dieting a try. So why not join them! At the end of the 30 days, I will access my results here.
My goal is to lose 4 pounds the first 3 months and then 3 pounds each month there after. I leaving myself my wiggle room as tax accountant, I am super busy at the end of March and beginning of April.
The Intellectual
- Read at least one Book a Month
- Manage Investments better
Check back here every month to see what my Hubby, baby and I are reading. As my little one gets older, I will focus more on a family story book. Until then, I will update you on the picture books that are capturing his attention.
As for the investments, Hubby and I plan on sitting down with a professional investor to discuss where we are in relation to retirement and sending our little one off to college. Some of you might think that it is too early to worry about retirement and college, but never forget that the early bird gets the worm. In this day in time, we need to start super early.
The Career
- Grow readership/followers by 500
- Find the perfect part time position
My career will look a little different now that I am a mother and a wife. I have responsibilities that extend beyond my personal desires. I love this new role in life! This blog has become an important platform to discuss how families need to stay strong and survive when infertility rocks their world. I never thought it was important until I've met so many couples that have thoughts of walking away from their marriage/relationship due to infertility! Not on my watch...there is a better way and Hubby and I want to make sure of it via this blog.
In order to maintain progress on resolution number one, I have to work to make some money. I am hoping to find a part time job in my career (finance) for after the tax season. It would be great to continue to work for the CPA firm that I have been with for the last few years. However, there isn't an available position with them.
The Family
- Monthly Date with Hubs
- Explore with the baby
- Spend time with aging grandparents
