July- What are We Reading
Welcome to Summer!
The lazy days of summer began this week. School is officially out! Students, teachers and staff are home and sleeping in.
We have all our large summer plans laid out on the calendar. We will be taking a trip to the desert and the beach! We are so excited to see and learn something new.
We camp every summer. We are still making plans for a camp trip. It seems daunting to camp with a baby especially since our little guy is trying to walk and is still in the oral stage.
We make small summer plans each summer. They are activities that mark summer and allow us to be outdoors during our short summertime. This year includes making ice cream, having picnics and reading books by the lake. Once again we are making sure that Baby E enjoys some picture books as well as his evening story book.
Baby E
He loves sound effects right now. We are reading books that have a focus on sound effects from trucks, trains and animals. We are also using the following book, First 100 Words, as a way to point out pictures and add words to what he sees. He enjoys the transportation page.
Myself
I am stuck between three books right now. I should finish them books right now, but I am having a hard time concentrating. My concentration is caught up in finding a way to make money and save money to pay down our last debt, student loans. To keep me busy in my search, I have found vloggers on Youtube that have spoken on debt reduction or cheap living.
The best way to keep mental space free while waiting on the best course of action, is to read something for the whole family. We want to teach Baby E many things including sign language. I know about 15 words and the alphabet. I hope to teach him a little more before attending a class int he future.
Hubby
Hubby is reading this book this month. I gave him this book as a Father's Day gift and he loves the fun and helpful tips. I believe that books on being mothers and fathers help us to see the different perspective others have taken on this unguided trek called parenthood. Some advice is worth taking, some advice is worth thinking about and the rest is worth ignoring.
What are you reading during the long days of Summer?
